Answers to Some Common Questions

Q - Directories - Why don't you allow directories?
A - We assume our users are looking for content, not to have to do an additional searchs
Q - MFA - Why don't you allow MFA sites?
A - Generally, the content is too thin and the user experience is poor
Q - Scrapers - Why don't you allow Scraper sites?
A - We don't condone content theft or copyright infringement
Q - NOSPAM - What is this about?
A - We believe our users see enough SPAM in the large Search Engines. If someone reports one of our indexed sites SPAMMING, we will investigate. It that site is actually spamming, we will warn the webmaster. If the SPAM is not removed within 1 week, we will remove the entire site from the index.
Q - Verification - How do you verify sites?
A - The old fashioned way. We call it Human Involved Verification
Q - Requirements - Your requirements seem a little severe, especially your linkback policy?
A - Our requirements are designed to promote Travel Spyder. After all, it is a co-op. When Travel Spyder benefits from increased traffic, so do the sites Travel Spyder indexes.
Q - Index - How many pages do you index?
A - We don't try to have a large index for the sake of bragging. We think that users prefer Quality and Relevancy over size. We believe that 500,000 high relevance pages with good original content will satisfy 99% of a user's travel information needs
Q - Relevancy - You claim high relevancy. How will you achieve and maintain such high relevancy?
A - Strict inclusion policies
  1. Our spider only crawls websites from an approved list
  2. It does not follow outbound links from any page it spiders
  3. The only sites we crawl are relevant to Travel & Tourism
  4. We don't crawl news sites, forums, demographic and political information sites
  5. We don't crawl sites with less than 50% Ttravel content
  6. We avoid sites where affiliate links exceed 50% of the pages
  7. We avoid sites that we feel will not interest our users

Q - Violation - What happens if a site violates your linking policy?
A - "Sites" don't violate policies .. human webmasters do. Inclusion in Travel Spyder involves trust. We will remove violaters. Three strikes and you're out .. for good.
